Assassin's Creed Unveils Bizarre AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a surprising crossover event that breaks conventional predictions, Ubisoft has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Uncovered
According to the official release, "A strange meeting draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where rumors of banned ceremonies and terrifying transformations echo through the obscurity." The narrative introduces a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret cult.
The adventure concentrates on "bizarre tests and a fearsome adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Transformations
The preview features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser concludes with a powerful scene showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Additional Features
Players who finish the mission will acquire an exclusive katana in addition to several items secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Exclusive weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Update
This patch also introduces the game's latest complimentary story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature techniques: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also features a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Japanese Animation Collaborations
This marks not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that obviously echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
